Due to all the reviews about long waits in line, I was hesitant to go here with a toddler. I decided to give it a chance at 4:30pm on a Tuesday. We walked right in and were able to be seated immediately. There were a couple other tables open too. My server was Kay and they were awesome! Super attentive and helped me make my decisions quickly. We ordered the caprese salad, a small Mozz & sauce pie, and the cannoli pie. All of it was so good. My favorite being the mozz & sauce Lisa. My toddler ate 2 pieces, me 4, and 2 pieces to take home. I usually think cheese pizza is a waste of time, but this pizza proved me wrong. The sauce was so good it didn’t need anything else to go on top of it. I liked the caprese salad and it was quite filling, but I think next time I’d get a different salad. I saw another table get one of the green salads and it looked awesome and like it was large enough for 2-3 people to share. The cannoli pie was a lot better than I was expecting too. Not very heavy and tasted amazing. I hope to make it back here one day! From sit down to paying the check, we were there for about an hour. Maybe we just got lucky!

Sally’s had a really long line last time we were in New Haven and we were starving so we ended up at Frank’s. We decided we would call ahead for carry out this time around to not make the same mistake. We ended up just eating the pizza in the parking lot so we could try it while it was hot and it is definitely really good. We liked the sauce and the crisp. I prefer Sally’s over Franks personally. Would love to come back in the future and dine-in for the full experience.

Sally’s Apizza definitely lives up to the hype when it comes to flavor. I tried the plain pizza and the famous clam pie, and both were amazing. The crust is thin and crispy with just the right amount of cheese exactly how I like it. I’m not a fan of overly cheesy pizza because I want to taste the sauce, and Sally’s nails it. The sauce was well balanced, flavorful, and not overpowering. We ordered an hour ahead for pickup, which I highly recommend to avoid the long wait or massive line. The pickup process was smooth and totally worth it. Would I go out of my way or stand in a crazy line for it? Honestly, no. But the pizza itself is solid and definitely worth trying if you’re nearby or planning ahead.

The marinara sauce has a delicious tang to it. No cheese pull, the mozz is baked right into the crust, New Haven style. Got a white clam as well because if a thing’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. The clam pie tastes of rosemary and maybe olive oil. Loved them both but the clam was my favorite. Only complaints are as follows: no lemon for the clam, and the end crust was a little crunchy for my liking. But everything leading up to it is nigh on perfect. Gotta be the best pizza I’ve ever had. However long the line is, it’s worth the wait.

100% worth waiting on line. Not only is the pizza amazing, they perfected the Caesar salad and tiramisu. My husband and I drank Mexican cokes in glass bottles (they’re made with sugar cane), and it enhanced the cozy, nostalgic ambiance. It’s clear this place earned all the hype, and they’re intent on keeping it. They mastered Italian American comfort food (they even put extra cheese, croutons, and dressing on the salad), and I look forward to coming back.

Sally’s Apizza lived up to the hype for me! We visited here as part of the Taste of New Haven Pizza Tour. We had a tomato, cheese and Potato and Onion pizza. Cheese was my favorite. There is a small parking lot next to Sally’s with about 18-20 spaces. On the Sunday we went there was a decent line when they opened at 11am, but when we went by later around 5pm the line was not near as bad. Definitely worth checking out!!!

Beyond delicious. Mozzarella and tomato sauce pie with pepperoni and the New England original clam. Holy smokes. Get there early. I was at the door by 10:10a on a Fiday. The dining room was full by 1035. Not the fastest service as far as pizza out of the oven. Mine was fast as I was the first to order but no worries, this place would be worth a hour or more wait. Just be patient. Fantastic!
